I walked past this place once and had a feeling I needed to try it. So I booked it for my graduation, and it ended up making the day even more special. The atmosphere was lovely, and the food was Amazing. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor though I’ll admit, the salad was the only thing that fell a bit flat. My top two favorites were the Chicken Breast Masala was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor and the Lamb Chop, which was perfectly cooked and just so satisfying. I I really recommended The Sticky Date Cake. I could honestly come back just for that. Every bite was warm, rich, slightly sweet, and completely addictive. It totally knocked me out (in the best way). Reservations are highly recommended it gets busy, and parking can be tricky during peak hours. But it’s super close to the Armitage Brown Line, so public transit is a great option. Already planning my next visit!

- Enchanting Atmosphere & Memorable Meal Alehouse Armitage truly impressed us—not just with the food, but with one of the most stunning restaurant interiors I’ve seen in Chicago. At first, we thought we’d be dining in the bar area, which felt a bit cramped, and honestly, we were slightly underwhelmed. But then we were led to the other side, and it was a total transformation—upscale, warm, and absolutely enchanting. The space set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic dinner. We had been eyeing this place for months, and finally made a reservation for a late Monday dinner through Capital One Dining. Even on a weeknight, the place was packed like it was a weekend. While the Capital One Dining experience didn’t seem to come with any explanation, we did end up with an extra dessert on the house—something I wish we’d been told about in advance, but no complaints there. As for the food—every course brought something to the table (literally and figuratively). We kicked things off with the **Spinach and Paneer Samosa**, and it was a standout. The pastry was light and crispy, while the filling had this rich, spiced depth that really hit the spot. It came with a green herb & yogurt chutney that was a little too minty for my liking, but it didn’t take away from how good the samosa was. Next, we shared **half portions of the Alehouse Chopped Wedge** and the **Smoked Trout Caesar**. The wedge was hearty, and the bacon bits added great texture and saltiness—but I’m not a fan of blue cheese dressings, so it wasn’t for me. The **Smoked Trout Caesar**, on the other hand, was absolutely flawless. Crisp romaine, sharp parmesan, and those genius salt & vinegar chips—just an excellent dish all around. For entrees, we tried the **Chicken Breast Tikka Masala** and **Peppercorn Steak Frites**. The tikka masala wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was pretty close—smooth, aromatic, and served over perfectly cooked aged basmati rice. The steak frites, though, completely stole the show. The peppercorn cognac sauce was rich and punchy (fair warning—it’s got some heat!), and the fries were crisp and addictive. It was a dish I’ll be thinking about for a while. Dessert was unexpectedly generous. We had been encouraged to try the **Sticky Date Cake**, and thank goodness we listened—it was warm, moist, and covered in a dreamy caramel-like sauce. Absolutely mesmerizing. The **butter gelato** we got as a surprise extra was also delicious—creamy, indulgent, and the perfect finish. All in all, Alehouse Armitage offers more than just great food—it’s a full experience. From the gorgeous dining room to the thoughtfully crafted dishes, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back before you've even left. Highly recommend.

Fantastic place all around. Generally we don’t normally do repeat visits to a restaurant because there are so many amazing spots around the city but I can say with certainty that we will be back here again. Loved everything about this place from the get go. We were seated in a very nice and cozy booth. The decor is very atmospheric and the food is top notch. Everything we had was so tasteful. The only dish that fell a bit short were the peas and bacon but it’s such a simple dish to begin with that I won’t fault it. The service was very friendly and attentive. If you haven’t been yet I urge you to go and experience it for yourselves. Can’t rave about it enough. Get the charred naan bread it was divine. The salmon just melted in your mouth and the pot pies hit the cozy spot. Wash it all down with a Mumbai Mule or two and if you still have room, don’t skip on the Golden Milk.

I have to give this place a 5 star review!! Came in with my friend last night after our class, no reservations but I was able to put my name down for a walk in. Leo at the bar is a doll! Love his energy and he was super attentive ready to answer any questions we had. Out of everything we ate, the trout Cesar alone is enough to have me coming back for more dinner nights!!!!! Dare I say it’s the best in all of Chicago?! Steak tartare was top tier, the burger unfortunately was a little too salty but I heard it’s not usually like that so will give it a second shot. If you take anything from my review let it be this... leave room for dessert! The sticky date cake that I shouldn’t of had but did anyway is MINDBLOWING!! Can’t say enough great things about this place, see you soon!

Delicious food! Steak Frits, Chicken Pot Pie, and of course sticky toffee date cake is PHENOMENAL. They have a great rewards program called Hogsalt that lets you build points (25 account creation) but it’s well worth it. The hostess and bartenders are super friendly. Sundays only serve brunch and I’d recommend a reservation on Fri-Sun.

Armitage Ale House is without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in the city. It is very difficult to get a reservation, but if you are going with more than one person, I highly recommend it. If you’re going alone, you have a good chance sitting at the bar where you can also order. I got the chicken pot pie, charred naan, and sticky date cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. So far i’ve been twice and have yet to order something I didn’t like. The decor is really nice and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. Keep in mind that they do not offer every pot pie every day. I believe the waitress told me that they rotate and usually only have two at a time. Additionally, their phone number is not manned, best way to communicate is via email. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try if you can!

Really great British themed pub restaurant in Lincoln Park on Armitage. Heard a lot about their London curries and they live up to the hype. Reservations recommended but the bar is also available for walk-ins and has food service in addition to good selection of drinks. Good quality food and service which is consistent with a Hogsalt venue.

I had an amazing time! The hostess was able to accommodate my request of a specific table when my hopes were low. Drinks came out promptly as well as the food. Food was warm and delicious, and the atmosphere was as lavish as I was expecting. Portions did seem a bit smaller than I was expecting, however I am excited to return.
